"Tell Us More About That" (TUMAT) is a concept that has been brewing in the background since 2019. A podcast focused on taking the often complex, misunderstood, or under discussed topics within human psychology, and connecting the dots to our individual experiences.
Through this podcast, we hope to shine a light on a variety of topics that will leave our listeners feeling curious to learn more, and motivated to dig deeper. The best communicators are those who have a genuine curiosity to learn more about the people they surround themselves with. While people are incredibly complex and unique, we are also fundamentally similar in one core component - we want to be understood.
TUMAT is dedicated to decoding the "why" behind the "what" through casual and insightful conversations with some of the most credible experts in the mental health community. Join us and our guests as we turn the complicated into the candid, exploring the fascinating world of human psychology.
Serious topics. Credible Guests. Candid Conversations.
As most good things do, this story begins in a bar.
We met when we were both living in Chicago. Jen was bartending at the best bar in Wicker Park, Gracie O'Malley's, which also happened to be Tony's dive of choice.
After living in Wilmington, NC for one year, we packed it up (again) and moved back to Chicago. This past year we found ourselves married, Tony working on his PsyD in Clinical Psychology, having two (perfect) cats, and Jen taking a break from working in the mental health field. Co-hosting this podcast has helped Jen stay involved in the field she's passionate about -- but also currently a little burnt out from.
With Jen's background in Counseling Psychology and Tony's in the interview/interrogation training and investigations space, we realized that while our careers are very different, they share one very specific thing in common -- working with people. If you're new to the whole "being a person" thing, people are... fascinating (and wildly entertaining).
We decided to start Tell Us More About That (TUMAT) so we could take our curiosity for better understanding human behavior, and hopefully inspire others to learn more about themselves and the people around them. We realize that many topics within psychology can seem intimidating, complicated, and “over-academic”. TUMAT is our outlet where we will have practical conversations, with personal perspectives, to help connect the dots to our everyday experiences.
